Big things are happening with Dads in Oregon! I’ve been doing fatherhood and parenting work in my community and throughout the state since 2016 and so you can bet that I was very excited when I heard about the very first Oregon Fatherhood Summit. I was lucky enough to be invited to give a short workshop presentation as well. I focused on sharing about the strategies that have helped me in developing and continuing two very successful in-person fathers’ groups.
The Summit featured incredible keynote speakers in Dr. James C. Rodriguez of the Fathers & Families Coalition of America and Dr. Alan-Michael Graves of Good + Foundation. There were also many notable presenters and workshops throughout the day and some incredibly inspiring lived experience and provider panels. There was some excellent opportunities for networking and I’ve already made multiple connections with other Dads doing similar work in their communities. The best news of all was that this was the “First Annual” Summit and that everyone in attendance seemed to agree that this work to inspire, support and encourage fathers needed to continue!
