December can often feel like a time of chaos and pressure, there are so many things to be done, bought, and made that it can be easy to feel overwhelmed even with the beautiful things. While all the celebrations that December holds are wonderful, fun, and meaningful – there is just no way to do it all. I want to give you the grace today to know that you – fellow parent – you do not have to do it all. I want to encourage you to focus on your family, focus on yourself, focus on the beauty and wonder that the Christmas season creates. Take time today to slow down – erase the pressure – take away any guilt – and give your kiddos the present of your presence.

I want to leave you today with a list of a few of our favorite Christmas time books. I encourage you to slow down. Cuddle up with a blanket, book, and your baby – let the pressure dissolve for a few moments, and live out this week in that peace.

Pete The Cat Saves Christmas – A cute story about Santa falling ill on Christmas Eve – and our beloved Pete The Cat comes in to save the day. This story is all about “giving your all” – and includes a sweet song within the text of the story. (Bonus! This 6 minute YouTube video reads and sings the story to you.)

The Greatest Gift: A Story Of The Nativity – This is such a special book – it beautifully tells the story of the nativity. It is a recordable book, which makes it great for gift giving and receiving. Once the book is recorded, all you have to do is turn the pages and hear the story being read to you by those you love.

Frozen – 5 Minute Stories – Our son is currently Frozen Obsessed – so this was a great find! This book contains 12 separate stories featuring the beloved Frozen characters. It makes for a great bedtime read – or a long sit down reading session.

Little Blue Truck’s Christmas – Another beloved character saves Christmas by delivering trees to all of his friends. This cute counting book has a special light up surprise at the end, that is sure to keep your kiddos coming back.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas – This is my all-time favorite Christmas story! Every year we read and watch the Grinch, we even have a special Grinch stuffed animal, Grinch pajamas – Grinch mug – Grinch everything. This is definitely a long read so there is no shame in watching the animated classic movie instead. We like to read the book then watch the movie – it’s a solid hour of Grinch happiness.

Happy Reading!
