Since 2015 I have attended the Oregon Parent Educators Conference at Oregon State University, a part of the celebration of Oregon Parenting Educators Week. I have always thoroughly enjoyed this conference and left inspired to do more and engagement with parents and other parent educators. The conference was scheduled for Monday and Tuesday May 18th and 19th.
Unfortunately, as almost everything has been, this event was cancelled this year. However, the Oregon Parenting Education Network couldn’t let the week go on without celebration. I have already attended a couple of virtual seminars and there are a couple more coming up throughout the week. Please make sure to check out their Facebook and website for more details.
I was also fortunate enough to have my story and thoughts on parent education featured on their Facebook page here. This is the same organization through which I was able to earn my Parenting Educator 1 status.
If you are a parent, parent educator, or support parents or parent groups in any way I want to say…thank you! This is an amazing field and I hope we can continue to raise more awareness and attention as to its importance. And if you have any questions about parenting education or believe there’s a certain stigma around those words or that it isn’t for you…please check out this post from a couple of years ago about what it means to me and how I work with and approach my classes.
This is fatherhood…
